What actually happens in a weekly art class for young children?

Every parent of a three, four or five-year-old knows that look — the one where your child is completely absorbed, brush in hand, brow furrowed in total concentration. That moment is worth more than it looks.

At Mini Ivy Art Studio in Torrensville, we’ve built our entire program around that moment. And Adelaide families are noticing.

Mini Ivy is a structured creative development program for children aged 3 to 6. Each week, children work through purposefully designed art experiences guided by our qualified early childhood educators — not free play, not colouring sheets, but real creative development with sequence, intention, and skill building.

In a typical week, children might:

  • Explore colour mixing with tempera paint on canvas
  • Build fine motor strength through clay and cardstock sculpture
  • Develop visual thinking by observing and recreating shapes and forms
  • Learn to follow a creative brief and adapt it to their own ideas

These aren’t extras. They’re foundational skills that support literacy, numeracy, and self-regulation — woven into every session.

Why weekly enrolment matters

One session is lovely. But weekly enrolment is where the real growth happens.

When children come back week after week, they build creative confidence. They remember techniques. They take risks they wouldn’t take on the first day. Our educators know their names, their styles, and their edges — and they push them gently forward.

Mini Ivy runs in small groups, which means every child gets genuine attention throughout the session.

How to start: the Discovery Session

Not sure if it’s the right fit? Every family starts with a free Discovery Session — a full 60-minute class at our Torrensville studio, completely free of charge. Your child works alongside our educators and gets a real feel for the program before you commit to anything.

  • Single session: $49
  • Double session (two back-to-back, same day): $59
  • Four sessions (all four, same day): $89
