Why Is Australia Still
Treating Art as Optional?

Finland made creative education a priority decades ago - not as an extra, not as a reward, but as a fundamental part of how children develop. The result? Finnish children are among the world's most curious, adaptable, and academically confident. Not because they study harder. Because they were taught to think differently from the very start.

"Creativity is not a talent. It's a skill - and like any skill, it grows with practice, guidance, and the right environment."

In Australia, early childhood art is still largely a filler activity. Finger painting to keep kids busy between lunch and pick-up. Mini Ivy is not that. It's a structured, skill-building program designed around how 3–6 year olds actually learn - through making, exploring, and creating with their hands.

You don't need to know if your child is "an art kid." That's not the point. Every child aged 3–6 is in a critical creative window - and what happens in that window shapes how they think, communicate, and learn for years to come. The question isn't whether your child would benefit from this. The question is whether you're going to give them the chance.

🧠Problem solving - art teaches children to make decisions, try things, and adapt when it doesn't go to plan
✏️Fine motor development - the foundation of writing, eating, and self-care skills
💬Self-expression - children who can express themselves creatively are more confident communicators
🎯Focus and persistence - completing a project from start to finish is one of the best school-readiness skills there is
🌍Curiosity - creative children ask more questions, explore more ideas, and adapt more easily to new situations

Art for Every Child -
Not Just the "Artsy" Ones

You don't need to know whether your child loves art yet. That's what we're here to find out together. Mini Ivy is for any curious 3–6 year old who is ready to make things, try things, and surprise themselves. Think of it the way you'd think about swimming lessons or music tuition - structured, skill-based, and designed for exactly this age.

🖌️

Real Skills, Real Techniques

Each session builds on the last. Children learn actual art techniques - not just one-off craft activities.

🌱

Confidence Through Creativity

Art gives children a voice. We watch them grow bolder and more expressive week after week.

📚

Supports School Readiness

Fine motor skills, focus, and following instruction - art builds all of it in the most enjoyable way possible.

🤝

A Welcoming Group Environment

Sessions are designed so every child feels seen and supported. Our educators are experienced in guiding groups of young artists through each project.

"Why Would You Give Away a $124 Session for Free?"

Fair question. We'd think the same thing. Here's the unfiltered answer.

We could spend thousands on Instagram ads. Instead, we'd rather do something that actually works: let the session speak for itself. One 60-minute session with your child is more persuasive than any ad we could ever run. And we know that.

If your child loves it, we hope you'll enrol. If it's not the right fit, that's genuinely okay - you leave with a piece of artwork, your child leaves with a great morning, and we part as friends.

There is no catch. There is no hard sell. There is no invoice at the door. The trial is our way of saying: we're confident enough in what we do that we'll let the session do the talking.

Here's the Reality:
When a Spot Goes, It's Gone.

⚠️ Only 2 trial spots available per day — book before they're taken

We deliberately limit trials to 2 per day so every child gets proper, individual attention from our educators. Trial families always get first access to ongoing spots before we open to the public. Families who hesitate regularly lose their preferred day and time.

  • With only 2 trial spots per day, popular time slots fill within hours
  • Trial families get first access to enrolment before the public
  • The Masterpiece Bundle is typically waitlisted by week two
  • Waiting even one week can mean a different location or a time that doesn't work

Booking your trial costs you nothing. Waiting costs you the spot.

Getting Started Takes
Less Than 2 Minutes

Three steps. That's all that stands between your child and their first Mini Ivy session.

1

Pick your location & time

Choose Torrensville or Payneham - whichever is closer to home - and select a session time that suits your family. The whole booking takes under two minutes.

2

Come along & settle in

Arrive at the studio. All art materials are ready and waiting. Your child will be welcomed by our experienced educators — Mrs Maria, Miss Claudia, Miss Angel, Miss Jacqui, Miss Sylvie, Miss Steph, or Miss Meg — who will help them feel right at home before the session begins. We ask that a parent or guardian stays nearby throughout.

3

Watch what happens - then hear from us

Your child takes part in a full session and takes their artwork home. At the end, our educator shares a quick observation - what lit your child up, where their creative strengths showed, and which program we'd suggest. You leave knowing exactly what's right for them.

You'll Know Exactly What's
Right for Your Child

After the session, our educator shares a short verbal observation. Not a report. Not a formal assessment. Just an honest, informed view of your child as a creative learner - from someone who's spent 60 minutes making art with them.

Engagement with art materials
Creative confidence
Fine motor skills in action
Ability to follow a project
How they engage in a group setting
Artistic strengths & interests
Then we recommend the art program pathway that's the best fit for your child's age, stage, and creative personality.

What Happens After Your Trial

We match your child to the art program that fits their creative stage. Here's what's available.

"Our son James started there about two years ago, and wow, what a difference. He used to struggle with separation anxiety quite severely at drop-offs, but now he walks in with so much confidence, like he owns the place. The teachers are so patient and really get kids. James is so ready for whatever comes next and we know Mini Ivy's given him the perfect foundation."

"One of the biggest changes I've noticed is in my daughter. She used to be really hesitant to try anything new because she was afraid of making mistakes. Now she tells me, 'It's okay to make mistakes because it means my brain is growing!' That kind of mindset shift is priceless. We're so grateful for Mini Ivy."

Eleni D. Google review · Mum of two

"My introverted little one really struggled in social settings, but Mini Ivy was absolutely incredible in helping her transition, make friends, grow confidence, art skills and independence. She has come in leaps and bounds. Charli was recently asked what her favourite part of the holidays were. Her answer, ever so proudly: 'ART SCHOOL'."

"My son has gone from struggling to hold a pencil and not showing an interest in art to now being excited to show me his new creations each week. Watching him be proud of his work has been a joy. This place has taught my son to focus for longer periods, explore his creativity, and learn in a calm environment. We can't wait to send our daughter too."

Tana M. Google review · Mini Ivy parent
★★★★★

"Mini Ivy has been the best decision we've made for our 3 year old. She'd never been in care before so Mini Ivy has given her the confidence and tools to be away from our family whilst enjoying the fun and creative art activities. I have noticed so many developments in her confidence and social skills, as well as improved concentration and fine motor skills."

Rita G. Google review · Mini Ivy parent
★★★★★

"My daughter attends Mini Ivy two full days a week. She faces developmental delays in speech, and through art she has found a unique way to express herself. The teachers are incredibly attentive and create an environment where she feels heard, valued, and supported. My daughter arrives with enthusiasm and leaves with the same joyful smile."

Questions Before You Book?

Everything you need to know before your child's first session.

Mini Ivy's art program is designed for children aged 3 to 6. Each session is structured to suit the developmental stage of this age group, with projects and techniques that are genuinely age-appropriate and engaging.
Sessions are guided by our experienced art educators. Each session has a structured art project - painting, drawing, mixed media, or collage - with a focus on technique, creativity, and self-expression. All materials are provided. Children take their finished artwork home at the end of every session.
We ask that a parent or guardian remains available nearby for the duration of the session - particularly for the first visit while your child settles into the new environment. Our educators are experienced in supporting young children through this transition.
None at all. The free trial is a genuine, no-obligation session. If your child loves it and you'd like to enrol, we'd be thrilled - but there's absolutely no pressure. The session is our gift to you.
We have three options: Creative Starter (90 min, $49), Little Artist Pass (2 sessions · 3 hours, $59), and the Masterpiece Bundle (4 sessions in one day, $89). All materials are always included. After your trial, our educator will recommend the best fit.
Yes! Mini Ivy runs all year round - every week, no school holiday breaks. We're an ongoing program, so your child never loses momentum. You can start any time and continue at whatever pace suits your family.
There is no cancellation policy - because we don't believe in locking families in. You are never locked into a contract, commitment, or plan. Come when it works for you, skip when it doesn't. If you ever want to stop, you simply stop. No forms, no fees, no awkward conversations.
Yes - Mini Ivy warmly welcomes children with NDIS support plans. We're happy to provide attendance records and information to support self-managed or plan-managed funding. Get in touch at hello@miniivy.com.au to discuss how we can help.
At Mini Ivy we believe in fully immersing in the art - so we skip the smocks and get straight into creating. We recommend dressing your child in something you're happy to get a little paint on. Think of it as part of the fun.

Your Child, Next Week.

They walk through the door for the first time. Maybe a little unsure. Then they see the colours. The brushes. The other little artists already deep in their work.

Within minutes, they're absorbed. Completely in their element - focused, curious, creating something that is entirely their own.

An hour and a half later, they walk out holding a piece of artwork they made with their own hands. They can't stop talking about it on the way home. They ask you: "Can we come back next week?"

That moment is one free session away. And the only thing standing between your child and that experience is booking it.
