What your child does each week

Four sessions run daily, Monday to Friday at 211 Henley Beach Rd, Torrensville. Each one is structured, purposeful and led by the same educator every week.

9:00 โ€“ 10:30am

Open Exploration

Child-led stations: your child chooses their medium and works at their own pace. Ideal as a first session for children who need time to settle into a new routine.

10:30 โ€“ 12:00pm

Teacher-led Lesson

A step-by-step project introduced by the educator. New mediums, new techniques, growth mindset language woven in. This is where the structured development happens.

12:00 โ€“ 1:30pm

Open Session

Engineering hub and rotating skill activities. Children problem-solve, collaborate and build spatial reasoning alongside their creative work.

1:30 โ€“ 3:00pm

Group and Skill Focus

Collaboration projects or a skill deep-dive. Small groups, focused work, the kind of sustained effort that builds school-readiness.

Why the 3 to 6 window matters

Harvard Center on the Developing Child research shows the brain is building its architecture for focus, emotional regulation and persistence right now. A child who practises trying something hard, getting it wrong, and trying again inside a safe, structured routine is building the exact skills that show up as school-ready in Year 1.

Same educator, every week

Consistency is not a nice-to-have for a 3 to 6 year old -- it is how they learn. The same face, the same routine, the same expectations week after week is what builds trust, and trust is what makes the work possible.

Structured, not freeform

Every session has a clear beginning, a defined task and a deliberate end. That structure -- the same one Carol Dweck's growth mindset research points to -- is what turns art into development, not just play.

Real projects, real persistence

Children work on multi-week projects that require returning to something unfinished. That alone -- coming back and continuing -- is a skill most 3 year olds have never practised before they walk in.

"I wanted something structured -- not just colouring in. Mini Ivy is the only place in Adelaide where I feel like my 4 year old is actually learning something."

60 minutes, daily at 10:30am in Torrensville. Your child tries the studio, you meet the educators, and you see the routine in action before committing to anything.

Step 2

Frequently asked questions

Two friends holding their bestie hearts painting at Mini Ivy art studio
What age are the kids art classes for?
Mini Ivy's weekly sessions are designed for children aged 3 to 6. The program is built specifically around the developmental needs of this age group -- the curriculum, the pacing and the educator approach are all calibrated for early childhood, not a mixed-age class.
Where are the art classes located?
We are at 211 Henley Beach Rd, Torrensville SA 5031 -- easy to find, with parking available. If you are searching for kids art classes near me in Adelaide's inner west or inner suburbs, we are a short drive from Unley, Hindmarsh, Thebarton, Kensington and the CBD.
How is Mini Ivy different from a regular art class?
Most kids art classes are one-off or drop-in. Mini Ivy is a structured weekly enrolment -- your child has the same qualified early childhood educator every week, follows a 10-week theme curriculum, and builds on skills session to session. It is closer to weekly swimming or dance lessons than a holiday workshop.
How much do the classes cost?
A single weekly session is $49. A double (two back-to-back sessions on the same day) is $59. Four sessions on the same day is $89. All billed fortnightly, cancel anytime -- no lock-in contracts.
Do I have to stay during the session?
We prefer parents not to be in the studio while we are teaching, but there is a comfortable waiting area where you are very welcome to stay. Most families find their child settles quickly once the routine becomes familiar.
Which days can we come?
There are 20 sessions every week -- four a day, Monday to Friday -- so you can pick the day and time that suits your family. Your child keeps the same slot with the same educator each week, which is exactly what builds the routine this age group thrives on.
What happens if we miss a session?
There are no refunds for missed sessions, but you receive a make-up token valid for 60 days, so your child can catch up in another session that suits you.
What if my child is shy or takes time to settle?
That is very common at this age, and our educators are experts at helping children through it. You are welcome to stay in the waiting area, and if your child is not settling, their educator will bring them out to you. The free Discovery Session is designed as a gentle first step for exactly this reason.
How do I get started?
Every new family starts with a free Discovery Session -- 60 minutes, daily at 10:30am in Torrensville. It is the best way to see the studio, meet the educators and find the right weekly slot for your child.
