Children are natural explorers. They love to ask questions, mix colours, build, and imagine new worlds.
At Mini Ivy, Creative Learning is at the heart of what we do.
Our art and play-based sessions help children grow in confidence, curiosity, and joy.

What Is Creative Learning?
Creative Learning is learning through play, exploration, and making.
Instead of only copying instructions, children are encouraged to:
-
Try their own ideas
-
Ask “what if?”
-
Mix materials and techniques
-
Make mistakes and try again
It’s less about the “perfect” result and more about the process.
Our Sessions are all built around this kind of open, playful learning.

How Mini Ivy Brings Creative Learning to Life
Our studio is set up so children can explore freely but still feel safe and guided.
In our classes, children might:
-
Paint with brushes, rollers, and fingers
-
Draw with pencils, markers, and pastels
-
Experiment with collage, clay, and mixed media
-
Build simple sculptures and 3D creations
-
Explore sensory trays and textured materials
We keep groups small so each child receives support, encouragement, and time to play.
You can see the range of options on our Sessions page.

What a Creative Learning Session Looks Like
A typical class might include:
-
Welcome and settle in
-
Children arrive, say hello, and explore the space.
-
-
Warm-up activity
-
Quick drawing, colour mixing, or sensory task to spark curiosity.
-
-
Main project
-
Guided theme (for example “under the sea” or “magic forests”) with plenty of room for personal ideas.
-
-
Free exploration
-
Time to revisit favourite materials or try new tools.
-
-
Share and reflect
-
Children show their work, talk about their choices, and celebrate effort.
-
This rhythm helps children feel secure while still having freedom to invent and play.
How Parents Can Support Creative Learning at Home
You don’t need a full art studio at home.
Small, simple ideas can make a big difference.
Try:
-
Keeping a small basket of drawing tools and scrap paper
-
Using recycled boxes and containers for building
-
Naming colours, shapes, and textures as you play
-
Asking open questions like “What do you think will happen if…?”
-
Displaying their artwork somewhere special
Our classes give you lots of inspiration you can take home with you.

FAQ – Creative Learning at Mini Ivy
What age groups are your classes for?
We offer Creative Learning sessions for toddlers, preschoolers, and primary school-aged children. Check our Sessions page for specific age guides for each class.
Does my child need art experience?
No. Creative Learning is for all children, not just “artistic” ones. We welcome beginners and more confident makers, and offer different levels of support within each class.
Do parents stay for the whole session?
In toddler and early years classes, a grown-up usually stays to support their child. In some classes for older children, drop-off may be suitable depending on age and confidence. You can confirm the details for each session on the Sessions or Contact pages.
How messy are the activities?
Some activities are very hands-on and can be messy – which is part of the fun. We provide core materials and cover surfaces, but we recommend clothes that can get paint or glue on them.
