Perfect for Ages 3-5

Between the ages of 3 and 5, children are developing rapidly. Art is one of the most effective ways to support that growth, building the physical, cognitive, and social skills they need for school and beyond.

✍️

Fine Motor Development

Gripping brushes, cutting, and drawing strengthens the small muscles needed for writing and everyday tasks.

🧠

Cognitive Growth

Art encourages problem-solving, decision-making, and the ability to follow multi-step instructions.

🗣️

Language & Expression

Children learn new vocabulary, describe their work, and express emotions they may not yet have words for.

🤝

Social Confidence

Working alongside other children builds sharing, turn-taking, and the confidence to try new things in a group setting.

Research shows that early childhood art programs support school readiness by building the foundational skills children need for literacy, numeracy, and social interaction. At Mini Ivy, every session is designed with these developmental milestones in mind.

A Structured Session, Every Time

Our preschool art sessions follow a consistent structure so children know what to expect. Predictability builds confidence, and confidence fuels creativity.

1

Arrival & Settle In

Children are welcomed into the studio and settle into their workspace. A calm, familiar start to every session.

2

Creative Warm-Up

A short, playful activity to warm up little hands and spark imagination before the main project begins.

3

Guided Art Project

The core of each session. Children are guided step by step through a structured art project, learning real techniques in painting, drawing, collage, or mixed media.

4

Free Exploration

Time to experiment freely, add finishing touches, or try something new. This is where personal style starts to emerge.

5

Take-Home Artwork

Every child takes their finished artwork home at the end of the session. No waiting, no wondering - a proud moment every time.

★★★★★

My daughter was so shy when she first started at Mini Ivy. Within a few weeks, she was walking in confidently, choosing her own colours, and telling us all about what she made. The structure of the sessions really suits her - she knows exactly what to expect, and that makes all the difference. Her preschool teacher even commented on how much her fine motor skills have improved.

★★★★★

We tried Mini Ivy because our son needed help with his pencil grip before starting school. Honestly, I was not expecting him to love it this much. He asks every morning if it is an art day. The sessions are genuinely educational, but they never feel forced. He is learning without even realising it.

★★★★★

As a kindy teacher myself, I am particular about the programs I choose for my own kids. Mini Ivy genuinely understands early childhood development. The way they break projects into steps, encourage independence, and celebrate each child's work - it is exactly what preschoolers need. Both my girls attend at Torrensville and absolutely love it.

Preschool Session FAQs

Everything you need to know about our preschool art program in Adelaide.

Our preschool art sessions are designed for children aged 3 to 5. Every activity is tailored to be developmentally appropriate, building fine motor skills and creative confidence at each child's own pace.
Art sessions develop key skills that prepare children for school, including fine motor control for writing, following multi-step instructions, sitting and focusing on a task, taking turns, and expressing ideas. These are foundational skills that support learning across all areas.
No experience needed at all. Our sessions are designed for beginners. Every child is guided step by step through each project, and there is no right or wrong way to create. We celebrate every child's unique approach.
We ask that a parent or guardian remains available nearby for the duration of the session, particularly for the first visit while your child settles in. Many parents enjoy watching from the studio or stepping out briefly once their child is comfortable.
We use a wide range of child-safe art materials including paints, pastels, collage materials, clay, and mixed media. All materials are non-toxic and age-appropriate. Everything is provided - your child just needs to show up ready to create.
Mini Ivy has two studio locations in Adelaide: Torrensville and Payneham. Both studios are purpose-designed for young children with small group sizes to ensure every child receives individual attention.
None at all. The free trial is a genuine, no-obligation session. If your child loves it and you'd like to continue, we'd be thrilled - but there is absolutely no pressure. You are never locked into a contract or commitment.
Yes - Mini Ivy warmly welcomes children with NDIS support plans. We're happy to provide attendance records and information to support self-managed or plan-managed funding.
